Bicycle Adventures’ Canadian Gulf Islands trip offers some of the best cycling in North America. You will also get the opportunity to stay two nights at the luxurious Poets Cove Resort and Spa, hidden away on Pender Island.
“The location was great,” raved BA guests Jennifer Schoen and Janet Bagley. “I love a pool and hot tub after riding. There was a spa, too. It was the most beautiful and luxurious place.”
The dream of building this resort began more than 15 years ago when Michael Kanovsky and four investors wanted to build a resort that would attract visitors from around the world but keep the charm of the marina. They were attracted to the site’s unique “bowl-like” cove, which provides spectacular ocean views from every vantage point.
Venture... scuba diving, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, tennis and whale watching are a few of the activities available. A glass enclosed fitness center offers views of the harbor. Guests may also lounge on the sun deck, swim in the heated pool, or just cuddle up and read in one of the resort’s many private corners.
Revive... looking for a little spa treatment after a day of activity? Susurrus Spa (meaning soft murmur or whisper) has six spacious rooms, some with fireplaces, including an oversized and completely contained couples room. The spa also has a eucalyptus-infused steam cave with cascading waterfalls and hot tubs.
Nourish... the resort’s two extraordinary restaurants, Aurora Restaurant and Syrens Lounge, use only the freshest products available and local supplies. Bread comes from local bakeries; fresh organic herbs and fruit jams come from nearby Jane’s Herb Garden; and cheese and coffee come from Moonstruck Farms on neighboring Salt Spring Island.
