Marty Andrews, Tour GuideHome: Seattle, WA Marty has been building his own bikes — as well as friends’ — since he was a child. He has worked as a draftsman for engineering firms and in the winter teaches telemarking, alpine skiing, and snowboarding at Schweitzer Mountain Resort in Idaho. He enjoys hiking, kayaking, and epic mountain bike rides, preferably long singletrack journeys. When not riding, Marty volunteers for the local bike club doing trail building and maintenance. He also dabbles with a new-found love in photography and is learning how to ride a unicycle. |

Lisa Bendt, Tour GuideHome: Beaverton, OR Lisa spent eight years in corporate financial services before starting her own software training and consulting business nine years ago. Her work has taken her to all 50 states and 33 countries. After an eye-opening trip in China, Lisa completed a master's degree in Holistic Nutrition and is currently working on her Ph.D. A certified spinning instructor, Lisa also enjoys scuba diving, hiking, snowshoeing, and reading. She is learning mountaineering and ice climbing for an expedition in Nepal. She enjoys spending time as a SMART reading volunteer. Lisa shares her life with her husband, Tom. |

Kyle Bennett, Tour GuideHome: Portland, OR Kyle has spent the past seven years as an adventure travel leader, educating and entertaining guests on trips all over the world. A former altar boy and the son of a toy salesman, Kyle attended the University of Missouri's journalism school on an Evans Scholarship — a full-tuition award for academically accomplished golf caddies. Since graduating, he has worked both domestically and abroad in various capacities of food and retail management for fairs, special events, and even the circus. Incredibly witty, Kyle excels in telling hilarious stories that sound fictional, but are, in fact, true. |

Thomas Bennett, Tour GuideHome: Eugene, OR Thomas worked as a geographic information systems specialist for the Peace Corps and is now earning a master’s degree in environmental planning at the University of Oregon. He enjoys surfing, reading, gardening, cooking, hiking, rock climbing, and riding a unicycle. Once he completes his degree, Thomas plans to pursue a career in community based resource management while continuing to work in the realm of eco-tourism. |

Diane Bowlin, Tour GuideHome: Seattle, WA Diane has a degree in geophysics and is a Master Gardener, and she enjoys sharing her expertise with guests. She loves backpacking, traveling with her husband and sons, skiing, snowshoeing, tennis, and cooking with foods from her organic garden. |

Sarah Clark Allen, Office ManagerHome: Olympia, WA A graduate of the University of Oregon journalism school, Sarah wrote for daily newspapers in Oregon and freelanced in Chile before coming to Bicycle Adventures, where she handles finances and the computer system. She enjoys long-distance cycling and racing, flyfishing, skiing, playing pickleball, and traveling. Sarah and one of her dogs are Pet Partners at a local hospital, visiting children in the pediatrics unit. She plays the flute and piano and is learning to play the guitar. She has one daughter. |

Bob Clark, OwnerHome: Olympia, WA A former civil engineer, Bob spent more than 20 years in heavy construction management all over the United States, South America and the Middle East. In 1984, he turned his passion for travel and cycling into a new career when he founded BA. In his spare time, Bob enjoys traveling, music, the theater, and fine dining. He regularly rides with a local cycling club and races at the national level in his age bracket. Bob has two grown daughters and a 16-year-old granddaughter. |

Kevin Dorrity, Tour GuideHome: Olympia, WA After earning a master’s degree in Japanese studies, Kevin spent six years in Japan, first as an English teacher, then two years in a monastery practicing Zen Buddhism. He also worked as an activities coordinator at a resort club in Guam and has self-guided three major bike tours in North America. Leading trips for BA blends those experiences perfectly, Kevin says. “I cannot think of a more ideal job than getting to do what I love while helping others to enjoy it,” he says. |

Andrew Eckstein, Tour GuideHome: Portland, OR Drew came to BA after working in Washington, DC, as a congressional aide and political analyst for the Japanese embassy. He has taken and led backpacking trips all over the world, including New Zealand, British Columbia, and 330 miles of the Appalachian Trail. He also enjoys cooking and surfing. Guests appreciate his patience and understanding, as well as his knowledge of history and culture of the areas we visit. |

Alisa Elliott, Tour GuideHome: Olympia, WA Alisa earned a degree in healing sciences and has traveled all over the world designing products for her import business. Guests appreciate her sense of humor, easygoing manner, and elaborate fruit and cheese platters. |

Kristin Gavin, Tour GuideHome: Seattle, WA Kristin fell in love with Bicycle Adventures as a guest on a tour five years ago. She was captain of the Division 1 field hockey team at the University of Richmond and now coaches high school girls lacrosse in the off season. Her team won Washington's Varsity B State Championship this year, and Kristin was named 2006 Varsity B Coach of the Year. Kristin also is working with Raleigh bikes to develop their 2007 line of women's specific bicycles. |

David Gillin, Tour GuideHome: Seattle, WA David’s zest for adventure was fueled by a 20-year career as a globetrotting TV reporter on the West Coast. He won six Emmys and covered stories from Europe to Asia and Alaska to the Caribbean. He now works as a public relations consultant and media trainer. David’s interests include endurance cycling events, Northwest microbrews, novels by Elmore Lenoard and Kinky Friedman, and professional baseball. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and has a master's degree in journalism from Ohio State University. |

Lorry Levine, Tour GuideHome: Portland, OR Lorry has worked as a community college instructor, been a river guide in the Grand Canyon, and led hiking trips in Arizona and study tours in Mexico. He also spent 10 years in health care marketing and communications. An avid sailor, Lorry also enjoys tandem cycling. He and his wife, Sandra, recently completed a cross country tandem bike trip from Washington state to Nova Scotia. They also have spent time in southeast Asia, Africa, India and the Middle East, volunteering in orphanages, leper colonies, and agricultural projects. They have one adult son. |

Chad Maurer, Warehouse ManagerHome: Olympia, WA As Warehouse Manager, Chad’s duties include buying, customizing, and maintaining our vans, trailers, bicycles, and other supplies. He also helps with the hiring and training of our leaders. In his spare time, Chad writes songs and plays bass guitar in two alternative rock bands. He also loves reading and traveling. He has mountain biked through Cambodia, Thailand, Costa Rica, and Mexico, trekked in Chile and Argentina, and toured western Europe. |

Brandon Ott, Tour GuideHome: Portland, OR After graduating from college on a tennis scholarship, Brandon traveled the world as an environmental educator. He taught Nepali seniors in the tea estates of Nepal and continues to study their language. On BA trips, you’ll find Brandon pointing out edible plants and explaining the area’s geology. He is interested in environmental planning for bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly communities. He also loves to hike, practice yoga, and drink milkshakes with his wife, Beth. |

Brad Sauber, Operations ManagerHome: Seattle, WA This Washington native has led and designed tours in more than 20 countries, with an emphasis on India, New Zealand, South America, Indonesia, and Mexico. He also has taught women’s biking workshops and has led tours specifically for women’s groups. He is a professional travel photographer who shot many of this website’s images. As Operations Manager, his duties include hiring and managing tour leaders, working with vendors, and developing tours. |

Laurie Stephens, Tour GuideHome: Hood River, OR Laurie spent more than six years as a biology professor and scientist before she and her husband left high pressure careers in Seattle for a cozier life in a small town. The move gave them more time for their two young boys and for travel, including bicycle touring, which inspired Laurie to guide. A triathlete and marathoner, Laurie also teaches telemark and cross-country skiing. She also loves landscape and portrait photography. |

Chris Stubblefield, Chief MechanicHome: Rochester, WA Chris came to Bicycle Adventures with 10 years’ experience in bicycle sales and repair. His duties include building, customizing, and maintaining BA’s fleet of road and hybrid bikes. He also trains leaders in bike mechanics, oversees the quality of work in our shop, and helps spec our custom bike orders. An avid traveler himself, Chris has extensively explored the Pacific Northwest by bike and enjoys traveling the country by train. He also loves to snowshoe and hike. |

Mark Wojahn, Tour GuideHome: Hillsboro, OR Mark has spent his entire life showing people how to have fun. He spent 18 years working in youth camps around the Pacific Northwest and has spent the past 26 years teaching people to cross country ski. A University of Oregon graduate, Mark is an avid runner, figure skater, pickleball player, and photographer. Many of his images appear in this website. He has led more than 200 BA trips, where he is famous for his beautiful recorder music and Sylvia, his purple marionette. |
