Shorter than our 8-day Glacier-Banff-Jasper extravaganza (listed below), this 6-day version focuses on exploring the two magnificent World Heritage Sites of Banff and Jasper National Parks. Starting and finishing in Calgary, we’ll take you cycling along both the stunning Bow Valley Parkway and glacier-studded Icefields Parkway. You’ll hike to the curving limestone potholes and waterfalls of Johnston Canyon, and to a teahouse on the Plain of Six Glaciers, far above the ice-blue waters of Lake Louise. And you’ll still have plenty of time to explore Banff and soak in its renowned hot springs.

Canadian Gulf IslandsClassic Tour

The Canadian Gulf Islands are serene and wild, filled with dramatic coastlines and an abundance of wildlife. The northern length of a necklace of islands ending in the San Juans to the south, they receive surprisingly little rain – about 30 inches per year. The pace is leisurely; residents share life with pelicans, bald eagles, otters and whales. We begin with explorations in Victoria, British Columbia, and ferry onward from there to the Gulf Islands of Galiano, Pender and Mayne. Because of the islands’ remoteness, lodging and dining is truly exceptional, ranging from a quaint European-style inn to Poet’s Cove Resort, where spas, massage services and a multitude of activities appeal to every possible taste.

Glacier-Banff-JasperClassic Tour

Our bicycle tour through the Rocky Mountain parks of Montana and Alberta explores a region that is nothing short of miraculous. Roads are dwarfed to miniscule proportions by immense guardians with well-earned monikers like The Ramparts or Heaven’s Peak. Fields of wildflowers blaze in the short summer season; frothy waterfalls burst from granite ledges, cascading through fern-sheltered grottos. And then there’s the wildlife: elk, bighorn sheep, moose, mountain goats, bear and caribou. From Whitefish, Montana, we’ll ride into Glacier National Park, then Going-to-the Sun Road and Logan Pass. We’ll head into Canada through Waterton Lakes National Park, and continue northward to explore the wonders of both Banff and Jasper National Parks, finishing in Calgary, Alberta.
