The Canadian Gulf Islands are serene and wild, filled with dramatic coastlines, rich colors, and an abundance of wildlife. The northern length of a necklace of islands ending in the San Juans to the south, they receive surprisingly little rain – about 30 inches per year. The pace is leisurely here, and residents share life with pelicans, bald eagles, otters and whales.

Our bicycle tour here begins in Victoria, British Columbia, where we’ll ride through picturesque countryside surrounding the city, as well as visiting world-famous Butchart Gardens. From there, we’ll ferry to other Gulf Islands – Galiano, Pender, and Mayne – bicycling, hiking, kayaking and exploring the region. Because of the islands’ remoteness, the lodging and dining here is truly exceptional, ranging from a quaint European-style inn with an English garden and a fabulous chef to Poet’s Cove Resort, where spas, massage services and a multitude of activities appeal to every possible taste. Cycling Tour

Our bicycle tour through the Rocky Mountain parks of Montana and Alberta explores a region that is nothing short of miraculous. Here, roads seem dwarfed to miniscule proportions by the impossibly massive ranges they traverse. Immense guardians with well-earned monikers like The Ramparts, Heaven’s Peak, or The Icefields stand watch over turquoise-blue lakes filled with glacial runoff. Fields of wildflowers blaze into being in the short summer season: glacier lilies, bright as canaries, purple and white heather, butter-yellow balsamroot and milk-white beargrass. Frothy waterfalls burst from granite ledges, cascading through fern-sheltered grottos. And then, there’s the wildlife: elk, bighorn sheep, moose, mountain goats, beaver, whistling marmots…just to name a few.

From the picturesque town of Whitefish, Montana, we’ll whisk you off to the edge of Glacier National Park. We’ll ride the shores of Lake MacDonald, then Going-to-the Sun Road and Logan Pass. We’ll head into Canada through Waterton Lakes National Park, and stay at the famous Prince of Wales Hotel. We’ll bike and hike in magical places: Bow River and the Icefields Parkway, Sunwapta and Athabasca Falls. Bicycle Tours - Glacier-Banff-Jasper

    People are talking

This was our second trip with Bicycle Adventures, and I always give people the same description: Bicycle Adventures trips are almost unbelievably well conceived and supported. The guides not only know the routes but how to relate to people, and they’re empowered to fix problems before they become problems. Lodgings are well chosen, yet the focus is on the routes, the terrain, and the overall experience, so that it's not all about hotels and dining. The lunches and on-route support are excellent. Meeting new people who share a common interest is another bonus.”
