Days typically start with breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by a review of the day’s routes and places of interest along the way. The guides will discuss optional side trips for those who wish to see more, and they’ll also explain shorter routes. Guests generally leave the previous night’s lodging between 9 and 10 a.m., after placing their luggage near our van so it can be taken to the next inn. Thus you are free to bicycle with as few items on you or your bike as you wish.
People usually travel in groups that form naturally along the route depending upon each individual’s pace and interests. Each person is given a route map and written directions to follow. You determine your pace; thus there is no need to feel you are holding anyone else up, or that anyone is holding you up.
Lunch, an extravagant spread, is served picnic style at a scenic spot about midway during the day. The food is available anytime during a 1-1/2 hour time period, so you can stop at all the sights along the way and still arrive with plenty of time to eat. The lunch stop is a time for socializing, resting and regrouping, as well as enjoying a healthy and appetizing meal.
Guests usually arrive at our lodging between 3 and 5 p.m., where they find luggage in their rooms and a hot shower waiting. Many people like to participate in optional activities in the afternoon. They vary from inn to inn and town to town, but may include sightseeing in town, hiking, swimming, getting a massage, or soaking in the hot tub.
Dinner is served at about 7 p.m. We walk or ride in the van to the best restaurant in the area, where you typically select what you want from the menu. Although we dine at fine restaurants, we are in a vacation environment where casual dress is appropriate. Afterward, linger over dinner and enjoy the conversation with your new friends, walk along the beach, talk, or play games beside the lodge’s fireplace, watch the sunset, or head for your room. The choice is yours.
